World’s largest production site for SiC semiconductors
A site that once converted coal into electricity will soon be producing modern semiconductors.
The US chip manufacturer Wolfspeed will be building the world’s largest, most state-of-the-art plant for silicon carbide semiconductors on the site of a former coal-fired power plant in Ensdorf. gwSaar is responsible for developing the site and for upgrading its infrastructure.

ESCHBERGER WEG BUSINESS PARK
Electric motor production facility
Business park with an ideal logistics connection
The buildings of Eschberger Weg business park were constructed around 100 years ago as an electric motor production facility. When our corporate group took over the buildings, the site was transformed into a business park. With its perfect location in the state capital of Saarbrücken, Eschberger Weg is now a location of choice for research and development companies as well as those in management and financial services.

SVOLT
Laminate flooring production facility
Packing and module factory for lithium-ion batteries
The former “Laminate Park” in Heusweiler-Eiweiler once manufactured flooring. Now, the site has become a state-of-the-art module and packing factory for lithium-ion batteries. With our corporate group as the project manager, the former factory underwent a turnkey renovation for the global high-tech company SVOLT. The site has an efficient, sustainable design. The factory premises are heated using the future-oriented method of heat pumps without fossil fuels, the roofs have been prepared for a future photovoltaics system, and 20 e-vehicle charging stations are planned.

AM ZUNDERBAUM INDUSTRIAL AREA

Second-largest industrial area in Saarland
The GI Am Zunderbaum industrial area in Homburg/Kirkel is the second-largest such area in Saarland at 41 hectares. gwSaar developed this former military depot site and created space for a total of 23 companies with more than 500 employees.
